A former ad agency owner and newspaper editor and executive in New Orleans, I've written more than 20 non-fiction books, mostly on travel and retirement subjects (for Fodor's, Frommer's, Moon/Avalon and other publishers) but also on other subjects including private eyes, Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars and the game of bridge. Most of my travel books have focused on the Carolinas and the Southeastern U.S. and on Belize. My wife (an attorney) and I live on a mountain farm near Asheville, NC, where I keep bees and harvest tax deductions.
